Hard West 2

Hard West 2 is a 2022 turn-based tactics game set in a supernatural Wild West, made by a different studio from the first Hard West. A gang of outlaws attempts to rob a ghost train and is cursed for it. The campaign follows the gang across a map of the West as they try to undo what happened.

Its central rule is called Bravado. When a character kills an enemy, their action points are refilled, so a good turn can become a chain of shots across the map. The gang's members have loyalty that grows with choices and unlocks abilities.

Bravado makes it one of the most aggressive and fast tactics games there is, where the best plan is a chain of kills rather than a careful advance. The gang members are distinct and their stories well written.

It is short and its campaign is light. The aggression it encourages can make battles feel solved once you learn the chains.

Hard West 2 shares Jagged Alliance 2's band of characters with voices and loyalties, and the sense of a campaign across a map. Its combat goes the opposite way from Jagged Alliance 2's caution: it pays you to charge.
